These are a few of my favourite things:

There's a first time for everything!

Well in a blog before i showed you the beautiful Designers Guild fabric that i picked for the blind in the bedroom and i finally got round to making it. It really wasn't as easy as thought it would be and i can't say i will be making one again anytime soon. But here it is and i'm rather proud!

BEFOR

When i started this blog i wanted to focus on the content on me doing up my home, which i have been so busy doing i have completely forgotten to document it.

These are some pic's of my flat when i first bought it:

Mexican Dream

I am just so in LOVE with all the beautiful colours and fabrics used in Mexican interior design and it's a theme I am using in my bedroom at home.
I first came across the style on a trip to Mexico and found all the deep bright clashing colours so powerful and inviting.

Oka have got some really beautiful Mexican inspired home accessories, I particularly love there authentic looking bed throws and wall hangings which would bring a sense of the exotic in to any room. http://www.okadirect.com/

I've chosen my fabric for my blind that's going in my bedroom. I just have to make it  the next time i have a few days off. It's a Designers Guild fabric from there new collection called Miami.

A family portrait - with a difference

I went to visit my family on a recent holiday and i wanted some photos to hang in my hallway. I do think that family photos can end up looking very similar sometimes and i wanted something a bit different on my wall to make me smile when ever i come home. These are of my beautiful sister.

Feature Walls

YAY or NAY?

I know that feature wallpaper has been the must have thing for a while now and everyday i get asked to help someone find the perfect wallpaper or paint colour for just ONE wall! Now i'm not suggesting that everyone who has just one wall of colour or just a splash of there favourite wallpaper has no taste, but i HATE, HATE, HATE it! It's seems like such a cop-out, if you like something be brave and have it everywhere i say. You can never have too much of a good thing! I do think my hatred also has something to do with living in rented houses and student accommodation for a fair few years. It does seem like you cant walk into a student home without finding magnolia walls everywhere with just one crimson wall, YUCK!

Why not have wallpaper on every wall, why did it suddenly become so daring to wallpaper all your walls in the same paper, or paint all you walls a beautiful exotic colour!

Some great ideas:
Why Not paint strips on your wall instead of papering them, not only is it cheaper but it is also so much easier to cover up when you want something different.

Use your favourite wallpaper somewhere different like around your fireplace.

If your fortunate enough to have incredible character features in your home then why not make them stand out by papering them or painting the wood work a different colour. If you don't, why not create some character yourself with some dado rail from your local DIY store and create frames on your walls which you can then paper with your favourite wallpaper or just paint with a contrasting colour.

I'm Back

Hello fellow bloggers i have been gone and i missed you!
Well i am currently sitting on my beautiful new sofa in my wonderful new living room in my FANTASTIC new flat that i am finally in! Sorry i have been gone so long i only just got my internet up and running.
Well like i said i'm in my flat and have already started doing it up, even doing the grouting in my bathroom myself! In this post though i did want to have a little rant about to things very close to my heart Fabric and antiques.

REMNANT BINS
I love love love remnant bins, if you have never had a good rummage in a fabric remnant bin then you are seriously missing out. You bargain hunters out there are the ones who will really love it, you can get the most beautiful fabrics for next to nothing. Most fabric stores should have a remnant bin and all the big department store that have furnishing fabrics or a haberdashery department will have one, places like John Lewis.

ANTIQUE FAIRS
I went to Newark far last month and absolutely loved it! I managed to pick up all sorts of things from jelly moulds for a £ to the most beautiful chairs at only £50 for the pair!!! I really am going to try and make a habit out of it. If any one knows of any other good fairs please let me know.
IACF host the Newark fair along with fairs all round the country, http://www.iacf.co.uk/

It's all About RE!

Hey everyone, i was hunting for some quirky lighting for my kitchen when i came across this website RE. It was set up by Simon Young & Jenny Vaughan who started there shop in 2003 in a small market town in north east England, they also have a great shop online. The shop sells everything and anything from coat hooks to plant pots. My personal favourites are the vintage jelly mould pendent lights, a must in every home and something that will defiantly have a place in my kitchen!

I've poped the link on and put just a few of my favourite things:

It's really worth checking out! xxx

Girl crush

Abigail Ahern
I must admit to having a bit of a girl crush on designer Abigail Ahern. Her style is just too cool and personally i think she absolutely optimise contemporary quirky design today. I bought her book A Girl's Guide To Decorating a few months ago and fell in love with her interesting and simple ideas on how to add the wow factor to your home. Her shop (www.atelierabigailahern.com) is also great but a little bit expensive for someone on my budget but the perfect place to window shop and get ideas.

Wallpaper

I love love love wallpaper but i just think it can be so daunting and final. Ones it's up it's up. It's such a faff to get off and if your anything like me you can love the idea of something one minute and hate it the next! However there is a solution, you may all be aware of this but i wasn't until the other day that you can purchase temporary wallpaper it's genius! Urban Outfitters online store have some really lovely ones and they are no more expensive then a normal roll of wallpaper.

These are just a few of the ones they do:
